It’s been a great weekend of tennis so let’s see if North Carolina and Wake Forest can finish it off in style.

#16 North Carolina (17-8) at #13 Wake Forest (15-6) – 2pm est – UNC is coming off a big 5-2 win over Duke while Wake Forest streamrolled Miami 7-0.  UNC continues to be hampered by injuries with both Esben Hess-Olesen (13.48) and Oystein Steiro (13.47) likely to miss their final regular season match in the powder blue.  If neither Hess-Olesen or Steiro can play doubles I’m not sure who UNC will put out though Brayden Schnur should be more than capable even though he hasn’t played doubles since returning from his injury.

Projected Singles Lineup:
1. #15 Brayden Schnur (UNC 14.55) vs. #26 Noah Rubin (WF 14.88)
2. #24 Ronnie Schneider (UNC 14.20) vs. #13 Romain Bogaerts (WF 14.34)
3. #71 Brett Clark (UNC 13.79) vs. #103 Jon Ho (WF 13.71)
4. Jack Murray (UNC 14.12) vs. Skander Mansouri (WF 13.19)
5. #109 Robert Kelly (UNC 13.56) vs. Christian Seraphim (WF 13.68)
6. Stuart DePaolo (UNC 12.46) vs. Maksim Kan (WF 13.33)
Others who could play: Keivon Tabrizi (WF 12.85)

FYI, the number beside the player’s school is the player’s Universal Tennis Rating as of April 11th.  For more details about UTR check out their website.

Dual-Match Singles Records:
1. Schnur 4-5 (2-1 ACC) vs. Rubin 12-3 (6-1 ACC)
2. Schneider 14-7 (6-3 ACC) vs. Bogaerts 14-4 (7-1 ACC)
3. Clark 15-5 (6-3 ACC) vs. Ho 14-6 (5-3 ACC)
4. Murray 15-4 (7-2 ACC) vs. Mansouri 9-9 (4-4 ACC)
5. Kelly 18-3 (7-2 ACC) vs. Seraphim 13-6 (6-2 ACC)
6. DePaolo 5-6 (1-4 ACC) vs. Kan 8-4 (3-2 ACC)

Others: Steiro 11-9 (3-5 ACC), Hess-Olesen 3-4 (0-2 ACC), Tabrizi 6-6 (1-3 ACC)

Doubles Records:
UNC – 15-6 overall, 7-3 ACC – won 4 in a row and 9 of 11
Wake – 16-5 overall, 6-2 ACC – won 8 of 9

I think the doubles point is huge for North Carolina because without Hess-Olesen or Steiro in the singles lineup they are going to have a really hard time winning at #6 with DePaolo which would put them in a 2-0 hole if they lose doubles.  North Carolina’s bread and butter this year has been Clark, Murray, and Kelly and I think they’ll need all 3 to win today. The only singles pairing that has met prior is Clark/Ho with Clark winning 6-0, 6-4 last year.

I’ll go with Schnur, Clark, Murray, and Kelly for UNC with Wake getting points for doubles, Bogaerts, and Kan.  Prediction: UNC 4-3

Sunday Schedule with other storylines:

Can #20 Mississippi State lock up the #3 seed in the SEC Tournament with a win over #24 LSU or do the Tigers pull the mild upset?

Today is the final home match for Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese – can these Vol legends push #43 Tennessee to an upset win over #17 Florida?

#6 Duke got blitzed on Thursday by #16 North Carolina, will the Blue Devils rebound today against #33 Florida State or will the Noles pull off the big upset?

#35 Harvard and #30 Princeton will be meeting for the 3rd time this year with each having won once – who takes the 3rd meeting?  Both Harvard’s and Princeton’s twitter accounts will be buzzing with updates so log in to find out how it all plays out.

#2 Baylor lost that heartbreaker to #1 Oklahoma on Friday but they’ll have to prepared today because #25 Oklahoma State is more than capable of giving BU all it wants. Does BU have a letdown or is it business as usual?

#1 Oklahoma finishes off its road trip by going to Lubbock to face #23 Texas Tech who is coming off a 4-3 win over #25 Oklahoma State.  Can Oklahoma avoid the letdown from the Baylor match or will the Red Raiders come out with “Guns Up” and pull the ultimate shocker?
