ALL TIMES IN EASTERN
SEASON CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS
**** Pulling daily schedule from College Tennis Ranks which pulls from ITA – unfortunately not all schools have their schedules inputted into the ITA’s system so that’s why some don’t show up in the daily schedule

Is K Boyd still on the team at UCF ??
He was originally schedule to play at #5 against TCU yesterday but was pulled after the doubles point – assuming he has been injured.
How do coaches decide whether to play out a match? If players are in the 2nd or 3rd set vs a ranked player, the players can miss out on improving their individual ranking if match is called. Winner and loser miss out on possible UTR rating improvements if match was a close, competitive one. I can understand not finishing matches if teams are in a tournament or playing 2 matches a day, but if they are only playing one match, why don't coaches allow players to finish? Travel schedule? Not wanting ranked player to get loss? Is this decision usually made before match starts or after match is clinched?
I agree with you KDBT. I think they should play out matches that are very close to being finished. Like I don't know why Ohio State/Florida and Okst/N'western had to abandon matches between ranked players that were deep in a 3rd set. Especially with no-ad, it won't take all that long to finish them.
Coaches always decide before the match starts whether to play it out or not. This is always true for non-conference matches and different for each conference in league play.
#1 issue will be travel, especially with flights. Many colleges are located far from a decent-sized airport. Florida (TPA or MCO), Georgia (ATL), and Texas A&M (IAH or HOU) just to name a few that are one hour or more away from a major airport. There is not a guarantee there will be a later flight available.
Bobby:
Nebraska Men vs Iowa tomorrow is being played at 4 pm. …. Central Time Zone….live scoring!
Bobby. Is there an Sec team that you think is underranked right now but is a very good team still?
I think Florida, Kentucky, and Arkansas are better than their rankings. I had high hopes for Florida after they beat USC and UCLA but they've struggled lately at several spots in the lineup – they should be a top 6 to 8 team. I still think Kentucky can get closer to the top 10 too.
Roditi and that crew in Waco? Count on some explosions and fireworks in that one boys. I wouldn't be surprised if punches get thrown.
The Frogs have Tech tomorrow, but after that, all eyes will be on Baylor for the Revivalry Match against the Bears. It'll be highly anticipated, that's for sure! I like the Frogs' chances in the doubles and I think Norrie will be favored against Benitez and Rybo favored against Tchoutakian, but all the others could go either way. It'll probably be newly-returned Trevor Johnson against Bendeck at #5 and that could be the deciding match. Expect a good crowd because quite a few Frogs will drive down to Waco for it!
Appears that Gordie Ernst is no longer coaching Georgetown men's or women's tennis. No announcement, though…seems hush hush, just change on website. Any idea what's going on?
NU women had a gutty win at six to win the decider vs Miami in Evanston. Is anyone surprised?
Bobby,
The ITA rankings for singles and doubles always seem so unusual, or should I say inconsistent. Do you think the NCAA will ever use the UTR system to select players for the NCAA singles and doubles tournaments? It would be great journalism to find an article that describes who on the selection board favors UTR and who is not likely to support UTR as a fair method for selecting players to the main draw. Also does UTR have a number for players for doubles performance?
I would LOVE to see a stat like AVE CHANGE IN UTR of PLAYERS at COLLEGE X. It would be a nice stat to show which programs actually helped players get better and which programs just get the good recruits.
Would LOVE to see you do an article about this.
