New Oklahoma men’s head coach Nick Crowell announced the hiring of Nate Feldman as the Sooners’ new assistant coach. Feldman, who played at Minnesota from 2002 to 2004, was the assistant coach under Jay Udwadia at Oklahoma State for the last two seasons. He also has head coaching experience after leading both the men’s and women’s teams at Norfolk State from 2011 to 2014. Bobby Reynolds, who was OU’s assistant last year, is now the head coach at Auburn.

New Wichita State men’s head coach Danny Bryan announced that Justin DeSanto will be the Shockers’ new assistant coach. DeSanto, who is a 2012 Wilkes graduate, had been the men’s and women’s assistant at Williams College each of the last two years. Kevin Montisano, who was the assistant at WSU for the last three years, is now the Head Tennis Pro at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Penn State men’s assistant coach Paul Tobin was promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach. Tobin is entering his fourth year in State College and was recently named the Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
It hasn’t been officially announced yet but it appears that David “Macca” MacPherson, the Bryan Brothers longtime coach, will be the new men’s head coach at George Washington.
Indiana University hosted the ITA Summer Nationals and its players swept both the men’s singles and doubles crowns. IU sophomore Antonio Cembellin advanced to the finals with a 6-2, 6-1 win over incoming UCLA freshman Ben Goldberg while IU junior Raheel Manji knocked off Iowa redshirt freshman Kareem Allaf 6-2, 7-6(2). Cembellin defeated Manji 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (4) to win the singles crown.

Cembellin and Manji teamed up to win the doubles title with an 8-0 thrashing of Duke’s Vincent Lin and Catalin Mateas. Cembellin and Manji had won both their quarterfinal and semifinal matches by 8-7 scores while Lin and Mateas had only dropped five games in three matches.

The women’s singles final turned out to be an All-Texas Tech affair after Alex Valenstein defeated Georgia Tech’s Rasheeda McAdoo 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (9) and Felicity Maltby defeated Florida’s Josie Kuhlman 7-6(4), 3-6, 1-0 (7). Valenstein and Maltby split sets and then Valenstein ended up pulling it out in a third set supertiebreak 11-9 for a final of 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (9).

Northwestern’s Maddie Lipp and Alex Chatt won the women’s doubles title for the second year in a row with a 8-1 win over NC State’s Bianca Moldovan and Claudia Wiktorin. Lipp and Chatt only dropped 13 games in four matches.

The US Open announced its men’s and women’s main draw and qualifying wild cards today with several having college ties. A men’s and women’s qualifying wild card will be at stake this weekend when the US Open National Playoff takes place in New Haven – draws will be posted at this link (once available).
