The US Open continued today with both John Isner (Georgia ’07) and Kevin Anderson (Illinois ’07) moving on to the third round while Stanford commit CiCi Bellis beat her second top 100 opponent to move into the third round.

The men’s NCAA Champions Mackenzie McDonald and Martin Redlicki had a set point in the first set tiebreak up 7-6* but couldn’t convert and then faded in the second set before falling 7-6(8), 6-1 to the top seeds Herbert/Mahut.

The biggest upset of the day, in the men’s doubles draw, came when Nick Monroe (UNC ’04) and Donald Young stunned the second seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo 7-5, 7-6(2). Monroe and Young trailed 5-2 in the opening set before winning 22 of the next 32 points to take the set 7-5. Monroe and Young led 4-2 in the second but Dodig and Melo broke back and held to even it at 4-4. The set eventually went to a tiebreak with Monroe and Young cruising to a 7-2 win.

The men’s and women’s head coaching jobs at Wisconsin-Green Bay are now open after Daniel Bickett accepted the volunteer men’s assistant position at Wisconsin. Bickett went 13-7 in his one season coaching the men’s team while the women’s team struggled to a 1-18 record. 
 
The following schools released their schedules for the upcoming season – Wake Forest (men/women), Duke men, Wisconsin men, Pepperdine men, Cal Poly men, Utah State men, Army men/women, and Long Beach State women.
