ThaiSon KwiatkowskiIt looked like Virginia was playing a dual-match today at USC as five guys played in the singles main draw with four of them on court at the same time. UVA senior JC Aragone was the first off the court after holding off ATP #515 Markos Kalovelonis. Aragone broke from 30/40 to go up 5-4 in the third and then he served it out from 40/15 to take it 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. UVA junior Collin Altamirano pulled off the biggest upset of the day when he beat the top seed ATP #282 Tommy Paul 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. Altamirano was in control of his serve all day winning 50 of 68 points (.735) while he had an amazing 22 break point opportunities converting three in the second set and one in the third.
UVA junior Henrik Wiersholm was the third Cavalier to pick up a win when he defeated fellow qualifier Jonathan Mridha. Wiersholm got broke serving for the first set up 5-4 but he opened up a 6-1 lead in the tiebreak and took it 7-4. Mridha served for the second set up 5-4 and 6-5 but Wiersholm broke both times and closed it out in the tiebreak 7-3. UVA senior Thai-Son Kwiatkowski followed with a straight set win over ATP #612 Antoine Bellier. Kwiatkowski held serve all 10 times while breaking Bellier twice in a 6-4, 6-4 win. UVA freshman Carl Soderlund was the final Hoo off the court as he defeated Stanford sophomore Sameer Kumar 6-4, 6-2.

Columbia freshman Jackie Tang has advanced to his first-ever Futures quarterfinal in Hong Kong after defeating rolling through the first two rounds. Tang knocked off the top seed in the second round when his opponent retired while trailing 6-5 in the first set.
TCU junior Cameron Norrie won his opening round match at the $75K Noumea Challenger by defeating the third set ATP #149 Duck Hee Lee 6-4, 6-4. Norrie went toe-to-toe with former top 50 player Alejandro Falla in the second round but came up just short falling 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
