The World University Games in Taiwan are nearing its conclusion with the doubles gold medal match taking place late Sunday/early Monday while singles wraps up tomorrow. Great Britain’s Jack Findel-Hawkins (North Florida ’17) and Luke Johnson (Clemson ’16) will play in the doubles gold medal match against Russia’s Richard Muzaev and Aslan Karatsev with the match scheduled for no sooner than 2:30 a.m. eastern. Mississippi State junior Nuno Borges will meet the top seed Jason Jung (Michigan ’11) in the singles semifinal with first serve scheduled for roughly 11:30 p.m eastern on Sunday night.

UCLA’s Logan Staggs and Jada Hart are playing in the mixed doubles semifinals at roughly 1:30 a.m. eastern while Baylor sophomore Jessica Hinojosa is playing in the singles consolation final on Sunday night at 10 p.m. eastern. Live scoring for all matches will be available at this link.

Gabriela Talaba was the big winner on the pro circuit this past week with the Texas Tech senior winning both the singles and doubles titles at the ITF $15K in Bucharest, Romania. Talaba won the singles title with a 7-5, 6-4 win over the No. 5 seed Victoria Bosio (WTA 611) while she and Oana Georgeta Simion won the doubles title with a 6-3, 0-6, 12-10 win over Elena Bogdan and Elena-Teodora Cadar. The singles title was the first of Talaba’s career while the doubles title was the fourth with all four coming with Simion. 
 

 
Joao Monteiro (Virginia Tech ’16) won his fourth singles title of the year after defeating Frederico Gil (ATP 563) 7-6(3), 6-2 in the final of the $15K Portugal F17 Futures in Sintra. Monteiro is now 54-17 on the year and his ATP ranking is up to a career high of 294.
 
Tim Puetz (Auburn ’11) won his first singles title in four years after defeating Hiroyasu Ehara (ATP 463) 6-2, 6-2 in the final of the $15K Switzerland F4 Futures in Neuchatel. Puetz only dropped one set on the week with that coming in his opening round match. 
 
 
Dragos Dima, who spent one semester at Cornell in the fall of 2012, won his first singles title of the year, sixth career, with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Bogdan Borza (ATP 738) in the final of the $15K Romania F11 Futures in Chitila.
