The new rankings are out and if you scroll all the way down I’ve got both the men’s and women’s team rankings along with singles and doubles listed too.
Georgia comes up 1 spot to #3 with the win over Texas A&M giving them a nice boost. UGA’s 5 best wins are over Illinois, Texas A&M, UCLA, Columbia, and the road win at Florida. Georgia plays at Tennessee and at Kentucky this week so they’ll likely see a points drop next week with Florida tumbling 7 spots, Columbia falling 8 spots, and Illinois falling 1 spot. Texas A&M will come up 1 spot and UCLA 2 spots but those point increases won’t come close to the points decreased from the other 3.
Illinois drops 1 spot to #4 after the Illini were idle last week. Next weekend will be a huge chance for Illinois to make a push upwards as they hit the road for matches at #8 Texas (Sat), at #9 Texas A&M (Sun), and at #17 TCU (Mon). The Illini’s 5 best wins for these rankings were road wins over Baylor and Notre Dame, and home/neutral wins over Ohio State, North Carolina, and Northwestern. With Notre Dame taking a huge tumble, Illinois will replace that win with Cal or one of the Texas schools should they beat them. If Illinois can sweep both Texas and Texas A&M there is a good chance that they’ll be sitting at #1 come next week.
Duke tumbles 4 spots to #6 after the crushing 6-1 loss to Virginia Tech on Sunday. Duke’s 5 best wins are over Ole Miss, TCU, Wake Forest, and road wins over Illinois and Northwestern. Duke’s only match this week is on Sunday against unranked Miami so the Blue Devils will probably lose some points since both Ole Miss & TCU dropped 4 spots, Illinois dropped 1 spots, while Northwestern came up 5 spots and Wake 1 spot. Duke had a decent sized cushion between itself and #7 Virginia however #7, #8, #9, and #10 all have chances to make a big points push this week since they all face tough top 20 opponents.
Virginia comes up 5 spots to #12 after picking up a pair of road wins at Wake Forest and NC State. Both of those wins are part of the Cavalier’s 5 best wins with the other 3 being TCU, North Carolina, and Louisville. Virginia has the big one tonight at #1 Oklahoma so a win there would do wonders.
Texas falls 1 spot to #8 after being idle last week. Texas’s 5 best wins are over Columbia, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Florida State, and at Tulsa but by having Minnesota jump up 12 spots to #22 they’ll bump out Tulsa next week plus Texas has a chance to pick up big points if they defeat #4 Illinois on Saturday.
Texas A&M comes up 1 spot to #9 despite losing to Georgia last week because the Aggies also picked up a road win at South Carolina. aTm’s 5 best wins are over Oklahoma, Ohio State, San Diego, Tennessee, and at South Carolina but they’ll have a chance to greatly improve on those with #11 Vanderbilt and #4 Illinois coming to College Station this weekend.
Ohio State drops 2 spots to #10 after the tough loss to Oklahoma last Friday. OSU’s 5 best wins are over Texas, South Florida, Notre Dame, Tulsa, and Auburn. Ohio State did pick up a nice road win today over #18 Florida plus on Sunday they play at #29 Tulsa so it appears they’ll be headed back upwards soon.
