What’s Coming Up

There are 2 big tournaments that get started over the next 2 days with both in the state of California.

The higher profile one is in Indian Wells where 3 of the top 4 teams in the country will be in action at the BNP Paribas Collegiate Challenge.  Play starts on Friday and finishes on Sunday.  

Current ITA Rankings of Participants: #1 Oklahoma, #3 Baylor, #4 USC, #20 Tulsa, #28 California, #29 Columbia, and both BYU and Purdue are unranked.

The University of San Diego and San Diego State host the annual Hilton San Diego Mission Valley Spring Classic which has a pretty even field with many of the teams ranked within just a few spots of each other.  There are a lot of potential 4-3 matches in the draw.

Current ITA Rankings of Participants: #22 Harvard, #30 San Diego, #32 Princeton, #33 Drake, #38 San Diego State, #39 Indiana, #43 Denver, and unranked but rising Middle Tennessee State.

These are the matches this weekend that I intend to do a preview on (making some assumptions on a few of the matches at Indian Wells):
Friday:
#16 Virginia Tech at #12 Wake Forest – 4pm est 
#4 USC vs. #20 Tulsa – 4:30pm est

Saturday:
#4 USC/#20 Tulsa winner vs. #3 Baylor – 5pm est

Sunday:
#3 Baylor or #4 USC vs. #1 Oklahoma – 1pm
#15 Florida at #13 Ole Miss – 2pm est
#12 Wake Forest at #6 Duke – 3pm est

    Good field at Indian Wells. I see how they made the draw but Oklahoma definitely got a favorable draw. Since Oklahoma has already squared off against Baylor and USC, I definitely wanted to see Baylor v USC and this all but assures that. Oklahoma should get several more chances against Baylor so I am hoping USC advances.
