Lafayette, Louisiana native and LSU junior Jordan Daigle won his hometown Cajun Classic on Sunday by defeating USC junior Nick Crystal 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 in the finals. Daigle defeated Ole Miss’s Grey Hamilton, Oklahoma’s Austin Siegel, USC’s Max De Vroome, and Georgia’s Paul Oosterbaan in route to today’s final with each of those 4 wins coming in straight sets.  Crystal was trying to make it 3-0 against LSU players after beating Boris Arias and Justin Butsch but it was not to be Crystal.

Quotes from LSU’s recap
“It started off really well, Daigle said. “I lost a little bit of focus in the second set but once the third set started I kind of regrouped mentally and played really well to close out the match.

“Jordan got off to a good start, serving really well and really taking the opportunities on the other guy’s serves, said Head Coach Jeff Brown. “He did a really good job after the second set, gathering himself and handled a little more adversity about midway through.

Arkansas’s Michael Redlicki made a big splash in his return to the college tennis scene by beating Tennessee’s Luis Valero 6-4, 6-1 in the finals of the Georgia Tech Invitational. Big Mike didn’t drop a set in any of his 4 wins over Valero, Georgia State’s Jannis Koeke, South Carolina’s Gabriel Friedrich, and Georgia State’s Sebastian Acuna.

Cal’s Billy Griffith won the Porsche Napa Valley Classic by defeating teammate Florian Lakat 10-6 in the Solinco Wild-Card Shootout.  Cal’s Griffth, Lakat, and Mads Engsted, Texas’s Harrison Scott, Liam Caruana, and Michael Riechman, Baylor’s William Little, and Princeton’s Alexander Day were the group winners who made it to the Shootout round.

Quotes from Cal’s recap
“It was an amazing feeling winning the tournament, Griffith said.

“In my semis match, I saved about five match points and was pretty tired but just kept playing the next point and fighting, Griffith said. “And then it’s always hard playing a teammate, but at least we were playing in the finals, so Cal was guaranteed a win.
“It’s definitely exciting earning a wild card into the futures, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to compete against some great players. It was a great tournament here in Napa, and I had a lot of fun playing in it.
“Just a fantastic performance from our entire team in Napa, Wright said. “Billy and Florian made it to the finals with undefeated records. The Solinco USTA Wild-Card Shootout was incredibly exciting with both Florian and Billy facing match points against them in the semifinals. It’s encouraging to see our team playing at such a high level this early in the season.

Southern Illinois junior Michal Kianicka won the Flight A singles championship at the Purdue Fall Invitational with a 7-5, 7-6(2) win over Dayton’s Jordan Benjamin.  Kianicka didn’t drop a set all weekend in his wins over Benjamin, Louisville’s Brandon Lancaster, Dayton’s Lorenzo Rollhauser, and Louisville’s Christian Haushammer.

Quotes from SIU recap:
“I’ve been working really hard during practices and it has paid off, Kianicka said. “I played good tennis the whole tournament and it feels like a big satisfaction. I felt I was in good shape and was pretty confident going to this tournament. With the amazing support of my teammates it all clicked together.
