Michigan redshirt sophomore Davis Crocker won the Big 10 Indoor Championship by knocking off Northwestern freshman Ben Vandixhorn 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals then he beat Nebraska freshman Toby Boyer 6-3, 6-2 in the finals. All said and done Crocker went 6-0 on the week in singles play and only dropped 1 set. Boyer earned his spot in the finals by defeating Indiana’s Matt McCoy 6-4, 6-3

We are just 3 days away from the start of the 2015 National Indoor Intercollegiates in New York City. The ITA’s event page has the list of competitors and links for live scoring and a live chat and draws should be out soon as well.
Here is my list of the selections along with those that originally qualified but ended up pulling out and this page has the final scores from each of the regionals.
It was also announced last week by the USTA that both the men’s and women’s semifinals and finals will be broadcast online by ESPN3. It was also mentioned in the release that there will be mid-match, on court interviews with the players which is definitely an interesting concept. Ken Thomas of RadioTennis.com will also be broadcasting throughout the 4-day event so keep that in mind as well.
Ryan Ybarra (12.37 UTR), formerly of UNC Wilmington, Texas Tech, and Tyler JC, won the top singles flight of the UTR Texas Open with a 6-0, 4-6, 10-6 win over Ramon Martinez (12.91) who graduated from the University of Texas-Tyler in 2014. Ybarra and Martinez had the top 2 UTRs in the top singles flight.
Tyler JC freshman William Wiggins (10.58) won the Flight B singles draw with a 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-6 win over high school senior Andrew Barrington (10.78). University of Texas-Tyler junior Joey Fischer (11.02) was the #1 seed but he lost to Wiggins 6-4, 6-1 in the opening round.
High school sophomore Max Pearson (10.17) won the Flight C singles draw with a 6-3, 6-4 win over high school senior Brady Kenyon (10.28). University of Texas-Tyler sophomore Ryan Elwood (10.40) was the #1 seed but he lost in the first round.
I think two of the most appealing things about the level-based UTR tournaments are the chances that you’ll get to see a guy and girl with similar skill levels matched up against each other and the other is you might see a 16-year old matched up against a 55 year old. The guys went 2-0 in the Flight D draw with Tyler Anson (9.48), high school class of 2018, defeating 2016 Wisconsin commit Melissa Pick (9.56) 6-3, 7-5 while Reid Jarvis (9.75) defeated Adison Guervara (9.74) 6-3, 6-1. Both Jarvis and Guervara are currently freshmen in high school.
