Georgia Tech junior Chris Eubanks accepted a main draw wild card into the BB&T Atlanta Open, which is an ATP 250 event, with his opening round match scheduled for Tuesday, July 25. Eubanks has played in the main draw of the Atlanta event two years in a row though he had to go through qualies last year to do so. Eubanks has been ranked in the ITA Top 10 all year and was recently named the ACC Men’s Player of the Year for the second year in a row. The number of head coaching jobs at Power 5 schools is now up to six after LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva announced on Monday that men’s head coach Jeff Brown was resigning after 20 years. Brown won just over 60 percent of the 517 matches he coached and was an even .500 against SEC competition. Brown’s LSU teams advanced to the NCAA Tournament 17 times however this year the Tigers fell well short after going 10-17 overall and just 3-9 in the SEC. Tennys Sandgren, who spent two years at Tennessee and just won the USTA’s French Open Wild Card, won his second Challenger of the year with a straight set win Joao Pedro Sorgi at the $75K Savannah Challenger.Kevin King (Georgia Tech ’12) won his fourth singles title and tenth doubles title after sweeping the Mexico F2 Futures in Villahermosa. The NCAA Tournament hasn’t even started yet but coaching openings are popping up all across the country. We knew that Virginia had a men’s head coaching opening after Brian Boland announced he was headed to the USTA and on Friday we found out that the women’s job is going to be open as well. Virginia Athletic Director Craig Littlepage announced that Mark Guilbeau had resigned after 12 seasons with Virginia coming off a season in which it failed to qualify for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2008. Guilbeau led the Cavaliers to back-to-back conference championships in 2014 and 2015 and his 201 wins are second all-time in school...
