Brown Director of Athletics Jack Hayes announced the hiring of Tim Gray as the Bears new men’s head coach. Gray most recently served as a consultant at Donovan Sports Strategies with his last head coaching job coming at Bradley during the 2013-14 season. Bradley went 3-19 in that one season and dropped the program a few months after the season. Earlier in the summer Scrivano added former St. Leo head coach Chris Frusci as an assistant as well. Elsisi, who is a 2008 Troy graduate, had spent the last six season as the women’s head coach at Hillsboro Community College in Tampa. Alison Ojeda who was the associate women’s head coach last season left to become the assistant women’s coach at Tennessee.

St. John’s women’s head coach Lauren Leo announced that Nelo Phiri, who graduated from Louisiana-Lafayette in 2015, will join the staff as a graduate assistant.

Thursday wasn’t a great day for players with college ties with both Steve Johnson and Nicole Gibbs bowing out in straight sets in singles while doubles teams with college players with 5-8 (4-5 men/1-3 women).

Both John Isner and Kevin Anderson will play on Friday with Isner favored against Kyle Edmund while Anderson will be an underdog against Jo-Willy Tsonga. Stanford commit CiCi Bellis will be a hefty underdog against world No. 2 Angelique Kerber in the late match on Ashe.

The rain on Thursday pushed several doubles matches back to Friday so hopefully everything will be back on schedule by Saturday.
