BYU sophomore Sean Hill has been the star of the show at the ITA Mountain Regional with the unseeded Wake Forest transfer making his way all the way to the singles final after two more big wins on Friday. Hill knocked out the top seed Utah’s Dan Little on Thursday and today he defeated the No. 9 seed Utah State’s Samuel Serrano 6-4, 6-4 and then in the semifinals he defeated the No. 4 seed New Mexico State’s Christofer Goncalves 7-6, 1-6, 6-4. Hill is also into the semifinals of the doubles draw with he and New Orleans transfer Jeffrey Hsu set to play the top seeds from Northern Arizona on Saturday afternoon.
Hill’s opponent in Saturday’s final will be New Mexico’s Ricky Hernandez Tong after the Lobo junior defeated the No. 5 seed Northern Arizona’s Tim Handel 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 and the No. 2 seed Utah’s David Micevski 7-5, 7-5.

LMU’s Gabriel Diaz won a pair of three setters on Friday with wins over USC’s Jake DeVine and UCSB’s Simon Freund with the latter finishing 7-6(5) in the third. Diaz will meet Arizona’s Alejandro Reguant-Bicardi who won his round of 16 match when San Diego’s Guilherme Osorio retired at 2-2 in the first. Arizona’s State’s Michael Geerts has yet to drop a set but he’ll face his toughest test on Saturday with the No. 3 seed USC’s Jack Jaede on the other side of the net. Jaede had to come back from a set down to defeat Pepperdine’s Brian Berdusco 3-6, 6-0, 6-2. The No. 2 seed UCLA’s Logan Staggs needed three sets to defeat San Diego State’s Sander Gjoels-Andersen and Pepperdine’s Dennis Uspensky and now he’ll meet UCSB’s Nicolas Moreno de Alboran who has yet to drop a set.
