Big 12 conference play draws near
It is the last week of non-conference play for the six Big XII teams. All six teams are currently riding win streaks, with no one hotter than TCU. Having won 6 straight matches, they find themselves the highest ranked Big XII team, coming in at #8. They have the weekend off and wont play until April 3rd against UT Arlington.
Baylor and Oklahoma are on a two match winning streak, with Oklahoma surviving a 4-3 win earlier this week against Fresno State. Both teams will look to continue the winning streaks this Thursday against their last non-conference opponents. Baylor plays Incarnate Word in a double header at home. Oklahoma is the only Big XII team on the road, as they travel to New York to play #41 Cornell.
Texas Tech plays Northwestern this Wednesday at home before they start off conference play with a road trip through Oklahoma to play OU and OSU.
Oklahoma State has two more matches before conference play, more than any other team. They host Fresno State on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how Fresno State plays after a close loss to OU just a few days earlier. Then on Friday, OSU will host UCF who has had an interesting string of matches, winning their last five matches after losing three straight 4-3 matches.
Last but not least, Texas will host Tulane on Thursday. Number 15 ranked Texas is the second ranked Big XII team, behind TCU. They have a measuring stick match; it will be interesting to see how their match with Tulane turns out after TCUs 6-1 win over Tulane a few days before.
The month of March has a saying: In like a lion, out like a lamb well as the calendar turns to April, the Big XII conference matches are sure to be anything but soft.
