The NCAA released the men’s and women’s team brackets on Tuesday and while many selections and top 16 seeds went as planned there were some adjustments made elsewhere in the bracket that at first seemed quite puzzling. The men’s bracket had three teams (Utah, Utah State, and UC Santa Barbara) with rankings strong enough to make them a No. 3 seed but in the end they were placed in the traditional No. 4 spot. There were three teams (North Florida, South Alabama, and VCU) with rankings that would normally have put them as a No. 4 seed but they were bumped up to the No. 3 slot. Plus there were other teams that normally would have been No. 2s...

It’s NCAA selection time with the committee’s choices set to be revealed at 5 p.m. ET (women) and 5:30 p.m. ET (men). The women’s selections will be made first at this link and then the men follow 30 minutes later at this link.If the selection committee goes off ITA rankings as its primary criteria, which they always do, then we pretty much know who is going to make it based off the projections on CollegeTennisRanks. I’ll list those teams down below by projected seed.If you want to get an idea on where each team will be placed you can check out the bracket projections on Slam Tennis (toggle between men/women). Slam Tennis also has...

We touched up on the men’s bubble watch earlier so now let’s discuss the women. I listed all the teams ranked 37 to 50, excluding the conference champions, however both No. 37 Wichita State and No. 38 NC State are probably both going to get in since there is a few point drop off down to No. 40 Clemson. The at-large cutoff is expected to be at 41 with eight conference champions currently ranked inside the top 41 so that means out of the list of teams from 40 to 50 there are only going to be two spots open to fill. #37 Wichita State – the Shockers finished up play last weekend in the AAC Tournament so as long as several of the teams...

Last weekend was full of some wild finishes, but as the dust settled, one team remained on top.TCU held serve and finished the Big XII regular season a perfect 5-0. Over the weekend, TCU beat Baylor at home and Texas Tech on the road. TCU locked up the regular season title on Thursday by beating Baylor 4-1. TCU won the doubles point fairly comfortably and won all three singles matches 6-3, 6-4. Baylors win came from Roy Smith at #6 singles 6-0, 6-1. On Sunday TCU played Texas Tech in Lubbock. The Horned Frogs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the match; however, the Red Raiders had the momentum as they took the first set on the four remaining courts. Texas...

The final week of the regular season is coming to a close and while some teams wrapped up play last week others are playing conference tournaments this week. If you are ranked in the 38 to 50 range that means you’re on the bubble so not only do you want to keep winning (if you have matches left) but you also need others around you to fall so they don’t pass you. I’ll go team-by-team to tell you what each team needs to do to give themselves their best chance of securing an NCAA at-large bid. The at-large cutoff is expected to be at either 42 or 43 with San Diego’s outcome at the WCC Tournament determining which number it’ll be. A...

The #33 Wolf Pack of NC State hosted Pittsburgh and Syracuse over the weekend, and split, beating Pitt but falling to a Syracuse team that has had a really good April. NC State ends conference play at 7-7, Pitt goes winless, and #27 Syracuse ends conference play 8-6.After starting conference play 3-2, U of L drops its final 9 games, with losses to Miami and Florida State this past weekend, to finish a disappointing 3-11. Speaking of disappointing, the Demon Deacons dropped both their matches, losing to Boston College on Friday and to UVa on Sunday. They have fallen all the way to an 11 seed in the ACC tournament and will face 14 seed Notre Dame on Wednesday....
