The last ATP level event took place over the weekend in London but there are a few more events left on the schedule at the Challenger and Futures level. Georgia Tech junior Chris Eubanks made a big splash last week in Champaign with his semifinal result moving him up almost 300 spots in the rankings to a career high of 645. Eubanks is now the fourth highest ranked current college player in the ATP rankings behind TCU’s Cameron Norrie, Ohio State’s Mikael Torpegaard, and Virginia’s Carl Soderlund. Tulane junior Constantin Schmitz was the biggest mover coming up 623 spots after making the finals in Niceville a week ago while TCU commit...

Five years ago John Peers was finishing out his collegiate career at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and on Sunday he and his doubles partner Henri Kontinen won the year-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London. The match didn’t exactly start off on the right foot for the Peers/Kontinen team after they dropped the opening set to Rajeev Ram (Illinois ’03*) and Raven Klaasen 6-2 however Peers/Kontinen rebounded to take the second set 6-1 to set up a winner take all third set supertiebreak. The server won each of the first 16 points in the tiebreak until Peers/Kontinen earned the mini-break off the Klaasen serve to take a 9-8...

Since the fall college season has come to a close I thought I’d take a look at the players with college ties that are in action at Pro Circuit events across the planet. We’ll start in Champaign where Georgia Tech junior Chris Eubanks was playing for a spot in the finals of the JSM Challenger against ATP #141 Henri Laaksonen. After splitting a pair of tiebreaks, Eubanks jumped out to a single-break 3-0 lead in the third set but he’d be unable to close it out as Laaksonen took six of the next seven games to take it 7-6(3), 6-7(6), 6-4. Eubanks definitely showed he belonged after hitting 14 aces, landing 64 percent of his first serves, and...

Georgia Tech junior Chris Eubanks won his first-ever main draw Challenger match on Monday at the JSM Challenger of Champaign-Urbana and on Thursday he moved into the semifinals after Michael Mmoh withdrew with a left elbow strain. Eubanks entered the week with an ATP ranking of 937 but he’s now headed inside the top 650 with a chance to go even higher if he can get past the second seed Henri Laaksonen on Friday night.Five of the eight guys remaining in the doubles semifinals have college ties with Dominik Koepfer (Tulane ’16) and Alex Lawson (Notre Dame ’16) set to meet Luke Bambridge and Liam Broady while Austin Krajicek (Texas A&M...

The Skupskis got broken to start the match and ended up dropping the opening set 6-4 but they rallied in the second set and after opening up a 3-0 lead they took the set 6-3. In the third set supertiebreak, the Skupski Brothers went up a mini-break at 3-1 and would never trail again as they closed it out 10-5. Ken’s ATP doubles ranking is up to #77 while Neal’s is at #85.
