Wimbledon Draws Released, Oracle/ITA National Fall Championships Selection Criteria, Pro Circuit Update

The Wimbledon main draws were released on Friday with 34 players with college ties set to compete at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. There were 23 former college players in the singles qualifying draws but Irina Falconi was the only one to come through with the former Yellow Jacket qualifying with a straight set win over Mariana Duque-Marino. Eubanks & King Win Doubles Title in NC, Torpegaard & Di Feo Wins Dubs in Rochester, Borges Doing Well in Portugal

Georgia Tech rising senior Chris Eubanks and 2012 Georgia Tech graduate Kevin King lost in the doubles final last week in Winston-Salem but this week they struck pay dirt and won the title with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Dominik Koepfer (Tulane ’16) and Luis David Martinez. Eubanks and King only faced two breaks points all match and they fought both off while breaking their opponents two times. Eubanks and King both won their quarterfinal singles matches and will meet in the semifinals just six days after playing in the final last week. Wake Forest sophomore Petros Chrysochos is your 2016 Saint Francis Health System Men’s All-American Champion after overpowering Ohio State junior Hugo Di Feo. Chrysochos entered the match as the higher ranked player but it was Di Feo that got off to the quick start after breaking from 30/40 to take an early 2-1 lead. Chrysochos immediately broke back, from 15/40, and then held at love to go ahead 3-2. Di Lorenzo Wins Women’s All-American; Chrysochos and Di Feo To Meet in Men’s Finals

Ohio State sophomore Francesca Di Lorenzo just started her second year of collegiate tennis but she’s already claimed two Grand Slams after winning the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. Di Lorenzo was playing her fifth match of the week while her opponent, UCLA freshman Ena Shibahara, was taking the court the 11th time since beginning the pre-qualifying rounds nine days earlier. Shibahara started the match off with a hold and break but Di Lorenzo broke back and held to even it at 2-2.
