Semifinals Set at Women’s NTI; Florida Fights Past TCU; Ohio State Overpowers Georgia; Texas Tech Tops Tulane; LSU is Walking in Memphis; Old Dominion Women Stun Tennessee

There was tennis played again in Seattle after snow wiped out Saturday’s schedule at the Women’s National Team Indoors and while most of the favorites won there was one mild upset. In an all-SEC dual, it was the No. 5 seed Georgia coming back from 3-1 down to defeat No. 4 Vanderbilt 4-3. The Commodores took the early lead with a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles and a 6-4 win at No. 2 and then the teams split opening sets in singles. Georgia’s Katarina Jokic put the Bulldogs on the board with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 but Vandy answered seconds later with a 6-2, 7-6 win from Christina Rosca at No. 2. Vandy’s Amanda Meyer extended the lead to...

Stanford Stomps Texas, Rybakov’s Revenge, Florida State Scalps Florida, Wake Forest Out Muscles UNC, Oklahoma State Survives (Premium)

WOW – what a tremendous day of college tennis action! The day got started early with No. 2 Wake Forest hosting No. 5 North Carolina and it finished 10 hours later with No. 31 TCU pulling off an upset win over No. 6 Cal. Both of the matches in Orlando were tremendous with No. 36 Florida State and No. 15 Florida playing in front of a College MatchDay record-crowd and then at the same time on the other six courts you had Tulsa and Central Florida go down to the wire. I’ll start off with the biggest upset of the day, in terms of ranking, which took place in Palo Alto between a resurgent No. 41 Stanford and No. 8 Texas. The Cardinal was coming off...

Ohio State Handles Oklahoma, Memphis Meanders Past Cornell, Texas A&M Tough On the Road, Georgia Gets After Kentucky, Wichita State Wins Pac-Mountain

The last time Oklahoma came into Columbus they broke Ohio State’s 200-match home court winning streak but on Sunday afternoon the only thing they’d break would be a few strings. Oklahoma looked poised to take the early lead after picking up a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles but they’d let break leads slip away on the other two courts. Oklahoma’s Jochen Bertsch and Mason Bridegan jumped out to 3-1 lead at No. 3 but Ohio State’s Hunter Tubert and Matt Mendez would take the next five games to win it 6-3. Oklahoma’s Adrian Oetzbach and Alex Ghilea broke for a 3-2 lead at No. 2 and they’d extend the lead to 5-3 but Ohio...

Texas & TCU Rebound With Impressive Wins; Reynolds Wins Auburn Debut Over Former Boss

TCU and Texas both took one on the chin on Friday night but each rebounded nicely today by going on the road and defeating a quality opponent. TCU dropped a tough 4-2 match on Friday night at No. 13 Northwestern and today they were playing at the site of where their season ended a year ago – Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane were coming off an upset win over Texas so you had to figure it was going to be tough for them to play as well as they did on Friday. TCU head coach David Roditi stuck with the same doubles pairings but he swapped his teams at No. 1 and No. 2 and both of those teams would be the ones to get wins. Guillermo Nunez and Alex Rybakov...
