Q&A With Minnesota Senior Felix Corwin

We’re down to the final weekend of the regular season in the Big Ten but before the guys close out the year we conducted a Q&A with one of the top seniors in the conference, Minnesota’s Felix Corwin. The Elm Grove, Wisconsin, native started off his collegiate career playing at No. 4 in the singles lineup but by the end of his junior year he was up to No. 1 and has remained at the top spot throughout his senior year. The last vacant Power Five head coaching position was filled on Friday when Minnesota Athletic Director Mark Coyle announced the hiring of Catrina Thompson as the new women’s head coach of the Gophers. Thompson comes to Minneapolis from South Bend where she has been the women’s assistant coach for the last four years. Thompson played at Notre Dame from 2003 to 2007 and also coached at Yale and Boise State. Thompson replaces Chuck Merzbacher who retired after 28 years as a head coach with the final five coming at Minnesota. What a night of tennis it was in Winston-Salem as top-ranked Wake Forest fought through the wind and a tough as nails opponent to defeat previously undefeated No. 3 Virginia 5-2. Nelson to UTRGV, Camper to Chattanooga, Assistant Hires, Arizona State’s First Signee, Decatur Futures Results

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) announced the hiring of Dann Nelson as the Vaqueros new men’s tennis coach. Nelson comes to Edinburg after spending the last 11 seasons in Carbondale as head coach of Southern Illinois. Nelson led SIU to a share of the regular season conference championship last season despite the program spending most of the season on the chopping block due to the state of Illinois’s budget woes. SIU got a one-year reprieve and will be back this fall but Nelson probably made a wise decision to secure his future for many years to come.Welcome to the RGV coach Nelson!
