Q&A With Nebraska Rising Senior Toby Boyer

University of Nebraska rising senior Toby Boyer recently finished up his third year of playing for the Scarlet and Cream and with his final season just around the corner we wanted to get to know a little more about the Ham Lake, Minnesota, native. This past season Boyer anchored the Huskers’ lineup for the second season in a row while winning 26 singles matches which was the fourth most single-season wins in program history. Boyer has played No. 1 doubles in each of his three seasons in Lincoln which included playing with his older brother, Dusty, in the 2015-16 season. The top two seeds at the Big West Tournament advanced to the championship match with No. 1 UC Santa Barbara shutting out No. 4 UC Irvine while No. 2 Cal Poly gutted out a 4-2 win over No. 3 UC Davis. Tuesday was a good day for Marcelo Ferreira’s guys with the Waves re-entering the rankings earlier in the day at No. 71 and then later in the day they took care of business and upset No. 26 Memphis 4-2. Friday was a day of upsets with the biggest shocker coming in Tallahassee as No. 51 Florida State stunned No. 1 and previously unbeaten North Carolina 4-3.  Florida State was coming off a tough 4-3 loss to Miami last Sunday so the thought of them beating the No. 1 team in the country had to be a long shot at best coming in.FSU’s Aziz Dougaz and Michael Rinaldi were first off the court at No. 2 doubles as they defeated UNC’s Brayden Schnur and Jack Murray 6-1. Thursday Action: Early Upsets in the ACC & Mountain West & Late Drama in the Pac 12 and B1G
