The new ITA rankings are out and Oklahoma is back at the top spot due to its 5 Top 20 wins over USC, Baylor, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, and North Carolina. The Sooners will have a chance to buffer the resume this Friday when they play at #8 Ohio State. A win over the Buckeyes would bump the Wake Forest win and give OU an even bigger cushion at #1. Duke moves up 2 spots to #2 as a result of its 5 Top 20 wins over Illinois, Ole Miss, TCU, Wake Forest, and Northwestern with the road wins at Illinois and Northwestern adding in the extra 10% bonus. Duke’s only match this week is at #44 Virginia Tech so they’ll still have the same best 5...

The new rankings are out and while all my calculations weren’t 100% correct they were close. I had carried over my points sheet from last year but didn’t make an adjustment for last week’s rankings which had 2 teams tied for 35th which threw off my point totals for everybody from 36 on down by 1 point. USC is the new #1 in the men’s rankings with Oklahoma dropping to #2 after falling at Texas A&M while North Carolina stays at #1 in the women’s rankings. For the full list of both men’s and women’s team rankings, singles, and doubles scroll down the page. I will say though that there are 3 places where...

It definitely wasn’t a surprise to see Oklahoma and USC as 1 and 2 in each of the rankings after this past weekend. The coaches placement of Baylor at #3, Georgia #4, and Virginia #5 was more in line with my thinking with Baylor coming pretty darn close to beating Oklahoma in the semis. The ITA has 2 Ivy League schools (Columbia #11/Harvard #25) in the Top 25 for what has to be the first time in quite a while. UCLA managed to hold firm at #12 despite going 1-2 over the weekend. The coaches have Mississippi State and Oklahoma State almost 10 spots higher than the ITA.ITA Write-UpCollege Tennis Online Write-Up

Both the ITA and D1 Men’s Coaches released their polls today and both have the same teams 1 through 4 with USC, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Georgia but after that there are a few differences. See the image below to see the side-by-side comparison. Here are the links to the respective releases for each poll and the College Tennis Online release has a good bit of detailed info about each team in the Top 10. ITACTO So what does everyone think – is there a team ranked too or low?Based on these current rankings if the 16 teams slotted for the National Indoors in Chicago each win out these would be your likely pairings.[1] USC vs. [16] Penn State[8] Ohio...

With the Illinois/Notre Dame match getting postponed due to bad weather the only action on the courts today was on the women’s side in Charlottesville where #10 Virginia hosted #9 Georgia. Virginia happily welcomed back its top 2 players (Elbaba, Collins) who had been out ill with the flu but Georgia came out strong and swept all 3 doubles courts to grab the early 1-0 lead. Each team claimed 3 1st sets but while Virginia was able to close out each of its 3 in straight sets, Georgia was getting more pushback. With Virginia leading 3-1, Georgia’s Lauren Herring was up 7-5, 5-2 on Julia Elbaba at #1, UGA’s Ellen Perez led...
