Universal Top 10Now that we’re officially in the college tennis off-season I thought I’d take another look back at the year-end singles rankings across all divisions. The one way to compare the rankings across divisions is to use each player’s season ending Universal Tennis Rating so what I did is I pulled the UTR Top 10 from each division then at the bottom I have them combined into one list. While Division 1 is by far the deepest you can see there are good players throughout all divisions.
UTR Top 100 Range:
Division 1: 13.90-15.23 (447 above 13.00, 82 above 14.00, 4 above 15.00)
Division 2: 12.09-14.26 (18 above 13.00)
Division 3: 11.74-13.07 (2 above 13.00)
NAIA: 11.14-14.29 (12 above 13.00)
NJCAA: 8.88-13.34 (1 above 13.00)
Each player’s UTR is comprised of his 30 most recent results over the last 12 months which could be from junior, college, or pro events.
If you are looking to go the college route and have a UTR of say 12.75 then you’ll have an idea on where you might fit in if you started college today. If you don’t know what your UTR is then you can look it up at universaltennis.com
The below UTRs are as of 6/8/15.

Yes all matches regardless of level (ITF/USTA/ITA) are included. Yeah if you don't play any ITF events and the the #1 guy in your division is a 13 then it'd be hard to get any higher than that.

It's always interesting to see how the Small College National Indoor Champ does when he plays against the big boys at the National Indoors in NYC in November.
I have started following UTR, but if I understand correctly they use every match result, I believe ITF/USTA/ITA etc.. as long as matches inputted.
Would be curious to see how some of the JUCO and DIII guys match up if they played more ITF. Obviously D1 will be higher as these are the best players and play against the highest level of competition on a regular basis.
Nice job Bobby, very interesting numbers
Stefan Kilchhofer's UTR of 14.29 would have made him #40 in D1 tied with Stefan Lindmark and Raphael Hemmeler.

Warren Wood's UTR of 13.07 would have him #407 had he been in D1.
Aren't there a lot of D1 players between 14.66 where you stopped and 14.29 where your DII list begins? That number/names is the something that would interesting. In UTR, that is a gap…..only three DII players have a 14+ then it is a drop and DIII starts significantly lower. I think the distance between divisions is more vast than indicated, that's all. Because after the top 10 in other than D1, one would assume the figures plummet. This is a very small representation of the overall field and I would expect to see increasing differences in divisions as the sample size increases.
