I realized/remembered when I was reading your preview. Too bad the matches weren't rescheduled for the next day. Are the PAC-12 and SEC planning to continue the challenge in 2017 and beyon?
Georgia and USC were supposed to meet but it got rained out. I would know because I flew out there for the Pac 12/SEC Challenge and only got to see 2 matches instead of 4. Probably rains like 15 days a year out there and that was one of them.

Several rematches in the mens round of 16. Including Ohio State vs Texas, TCU vs California, UCLA vs Stanford, Wake Forest vs Oklahoma, and Georgia vs USC. Upsets in the round of 32 eliminated possible rematches of Texas Tech vs Florida and North Carolina vs Illinois. Could have been 7 rematches out of 8 matches.<br />
Are we talking tennis here or academics? So unnecessary to throw academic snobbery in, they are all nice schools with niche programs appealing to a vast array of people.
Sheila Jackson Lee attended UVA Law School! If that isn't an academic endorsement then what else could be?<br /><br />UNC is currently embroiled in many academic scandals.

I think Stanford is the only school left that has national pull. UVA, USC, UCLA, UNC, Cal or Texas are just strong regional schools. They do not have some magic outside their immediate region. Georgia, Florida, SMU, TCU and Oklahoma all have pretty good reputations too. They may not be deemed quite as strong as the aforementioned but they don't have bad reputations. For that matter, I don't think Ok State or Miss State are deemed bad.<br /><br />This academic elitist snobbery is usually taught inside the friendly confines of one's own institution. The university administration typically tells you how great you are and if you are inside the walls, you tend to believe you are as great as you have been told.<br /><br />For the record, I am a Texas guy but I have been in the world long enough to know that for the most part, once you are out, the sheepskin isn't a big deal.<br /><br />I doubt it will happen, but go Horns beat the Buckeyes. Sadly, I think the only Big XII team to advance past Friday will be TCU.
UVA and UNC are 2 of the best public universities in the country.<br />
With so few players able to make a living playing tennis, lots are parlaying their tennis to get the best education they can. That is why a large percentage of top American talent go to great academic institutions. A kid from Germany doesn't know the difference. A kid from South America is happy to be anywhere.
That's honestly beyond stupid. People are living in fantasy land when they think a diploma from Stanford or somewhere like that is worth soon much more. I guess it's a way to justify the ridiculous costs to themselves.
Academic smack? Regardless of who wins, it will have no bearing on the professors at any institution.
Academics matter but not as much as you'd think. For the best junior players, they all want the opportunity to develop and have a chance in pros. From the 16 schools still remaining, I would not say that any of their diplomas are "worthless", but some do carry more weight nationally.
Not sure that you can call UNC an "amazing academic school".<br /><br />It is more that people in the United States tend not to want to go to Starkville, Norman, or Stillwater.
Ridiculous comment. Stanford is one of the best schools in the country and probably the best for the athletics/academics combination. <br />Florida is a great school and difficult to get into. Their job placement numbers are some of the best in the US.
I heard two different parents of a highly recruited players say UF and OSU diplomas were worthless. Stanford is a great academic school. Stanford ain't winning the tournament though, this year.<br /><br />Academics of the school as a whole don't matter much. A good student at any of the top schools should be able to develop.

Interesting dynamic. It just so happens that Stanford, UCLA, UNC, UVA, UF are amazing academic schools. Miss St, OK St, Oklahoma not so much. Coincidence?
Mississippi State and Oklahoma have one domestic starter. Oklahoma State has none.
Florida, Ucla, Stanford, and UNC all have5 domestic starters with one foriegn starter. Uva has one singles player from elsewhere and one doubles player. There is a very good chance one of these teams will win it all. For whatever that is worth.
Any chance you can include highest pro ranking, if any, as well? Would love to see how many players have futures/challenger/atp experience
