So what you're saying is Mackie and Marty and essentially guaranteed a spot in the US Open now.
That's bizarre. The team that lost in the finals ended up with the wildcard? Why do they need to be American? Just because its the U.S. open, doesn't mean we should limit the wildcard to the people who are American. All these kids come to America to play for American schools.
Usually if it's an All-American team they get the wild card – if they aren't All-American then the team does not.

Two years ago Tennessee's Hunter Reese and Mikelis Libietis won the doubles title over Ohio State's Peter Kobelt and Kevin Metka and Reese and Kobelt actually got a wild card as a team – lost to Llodra/Mahut 6-4, 6-1
If an American wins dubs, they've always gotten a wild card. If only one is American, they've paired the American with another American. There hasn't been a consistent system for how they choose the other American, but last time, they chose the best player on the runner-up team.
S.O.L.
Hey Bobby, I know if single champion is an American, he or she gets a wildcard to the US Open. Is that the same case for doubles if the team consists of 2 Americans? How does it work if 1 is an American and 1 isn't (perhaps Rinderknech and Withrow)?
He got offered so much money from UCF. Plus he's now the director of tennis which means he has so much more freedom to do what he wants.
Kinda thought that John Roddick would remain at Oklahoma until the UGA position became available
Depending on how well Ponwith does at the French juniors, he many not come to Georgia. This tournament was the key factor in Tommy Paul canceling his commitment and turning pro.

Not to tread on Bobby's toes, but there's an excellent piece at tennisrecruiting.net – Mens Teams – Class Rankings that will tell you all you need to know about next years class. Georgia is far and away No. 1, receiving 24 of 24 1st place votes by a panel of experts, of which Bobby was one. Nathan Ponwith is "the jewel" of the class; Robert Loeb is ranked No.1 in SC and the Southeast, No.4 nationally; Alex Phillips was listed on UGA's roster for 15-16, enrolled Jan. 2016 but didn't play the 1st ball in competition; and Alex Diaz is Coach Manny Diaz son. Hopefully Ponwith will hold to commitment and not go pro route like Tommy Paul did last year, not disparaging or blaming him, just sayin'. IMO (humbly), "one guy" can make a huge difference and looks like Georgia has at least 3, maybe 4, of those "one guys". Go Dawgs!
Bobby, Any insight into the top recruiting classes for next year?
Bobby what happened to Vince Schneider of Baylor? Looks like he didn't play all season. They really could have used him this year. Dude was a beast in doubles and quite solid in singles.
