South Florida Athletic Director Mark Harlan announced that assistant coach Ashley Fisher has been promoted to men’s head coach. Fisher, who is a 1998 TCU graduate, played professionally for 14 years and coached for several more before becoming South Florida’s assistant coach this past January after Brandon Wagner departed to go coach in the private sector. Fisher replaced Matt Hill who had an extremely successful four-year run before leaving to take the Arizona State men’s job.

Belmont Athletic Director Scott Corley July 12, 2016 ” target=”_blank”>announced on Monday that the interim tag had been removed from Mauricio Antun’s title. Antun took over as interim head coach this past January after Jim Madrigal departed after 18 seasons. Antum himself just graduated in December after finishing his playing career at Belmont in May 2015.

Wisconsin women’s head coach Kelsey McKenna announced the hiring of Megan Falcon as the Badgers new assistant coach. Falcon, who was a three-time All American at LSU, comes to Madison after being the assistant coach at Gonzaga last season.

SMU’s Hunter Johnson earned his first career ATP point at the Belgium F5 Futures with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over #895 Franco Emanuel Egea – next up is #321 Niels Desein.

Virginia commit Carl Soderlund, who entered the week ranked 479 after a run to the Bastad Challenger semifinals, won his first round at the ATP 250 Swedish Open in Bastad. Soderlund defeated fellow wild carder #674 Fred Simonsson 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5) in a match where Soderlund trailed 4-2 in the third – next up is #30 Joao Sousa.

Several current and former collegians will be in action this week as the Davis Cup fires up for another round of action. Team USA will be represented by three former collegians with John Isner (Georgia ’07) playing singles and Bob and Mike Bryan (Stanford ’98) playing doubles.
