It’s a semifinal Monday in Athens with both matches expected to be close. Originally these matches were scheduled for noon eastern but with rain expected around 2 they’ve been moved up to 10 a.m. Georgia and North Carolina will play on the Henry Feild Stadium Courts while Virginia and Ohio State will play on the McWhorter Courts. I’ll give the first one away for free but to see the other you’ll need to be a CTT subscriber ($9.99 month/no long term commitment required).

I think Georgia will play its best doubles of the week to take the early 1-0 lead and in singles I like Georgia’s chances at 4 and 5 but finding that final point will be a little too tough. I’ll take North Carolina in singles at 1, 2, 3, and 6 to pull off the win over the hometown team.  Prediction: North Carolina 4-3.

I think for Ohio State to win this match they’ve got to take the doubles point and win at 1, 2, and 5 because Virginia is just too strong at 3, 4, and 6. Virginia doesn’t lose the doubles point very often in the NCAA Tournament but I think the Buckeyes find a way to grab it on Monday. Mikael Torpegaard should be able to get a W up top and I think Ohio State gets a win at either 2 or 5 but not both -Ohio State has shown it can win the tough matches but Virginia has proven itself time and time again on the big stage and I think they get the win and move on to the final.  Prediction: Virginia 4-3
