The latest Oracle/ITA Top 25 is out and as expected there was a good bit of movement on the men’s side while there wasn’t much movement on the women’s side but more than I expected. The men’s top three stayed the same with Virginia, Wake Forest, and Ohio State retaining their spots while the losses of Texas and TCU caused some movement between 4 and 10. Cal, Georgia, and UCLA each slid up a spot to 4, 5, and 6 while North Carolina and USC jumped two spots to 7 and 8. Texas’s loss at Tulsa dropped them from 4 to 9 while TCU’s loss to Northwestern dropped them from 7 to 12. Northwestern moved up 3 spots from 13 to 10 but in my...

The new ITA rankings came out on Wednesday with no change in the women’s rankings and only a few minor changes on the men’s side. As I mentioned in my post yesterday the only ranked women’s teams to play a dual-match so far have been Georgia Tech and South Carolina with both winning over the weekend. On the men’s side Cal and Georgia had been tied for fifth but now Cal is in sole position of fifth while Georgia fell back to sixth – I guess the national ranking committee wasn’t impressed with Georgia going 9-11 in singles over the weekend at the MLK Invitational. TCU and UCLA had been ranked seventh and eighth respectively...

The first official team rankings of the year were released late Wednesday afternoon with Virginia coming in at No. 1 as anticipated. In the past, all team rankings have listed the top 75 but this year the D1 Operating Committee voted to just make it a top 25 and it will remain that way until the first computer rankings begin after the National Team Indoors in February. Virginia remains at the top while the defending ACC Champion Wake Forest Demon Deacons move up to No. 2. Ohio State, which added JJ Wolf to the roster on Thursday, came in at No. 3 and Texas shoots up to No. 4. If comparing these to last season’s final rankings the biggest...

The ITA actually put these final team rankings out last week on May 25th but I didn’t make a release because I didn’t want it to get lost in the shuffle with the NCAA Tournament still in progress. The national champion Virginia Cavaliers finished at the top spot while UCLA finished at No. 2 and TCU finished at No. 3. Oklahoma made the biggest jump in the top 10 by rising four spots from No. 10 to No. 6 after making a run to the finals. Cal moved up four spots as well by coming up from No. 13 to No. 9 after making it all the way to the semifinals.Stanford and SMU had the biggest increases with each coming up eight spots to No. 21 and No. 22...
