February 21st Oracle/ITA Women’s Team/Singles/Doubles Rankings – Full Breakdown!

As I mentioned yesterday in my men’s recap this set of rankings is the first set of computerized team rankings after having a ranking committee make all the selections up until now. The computer ranks teams based off their four best wins with all losses also included in the equation. The teams that racked up a lot of wins with very few losses were rewarded while the ones that haven’t played much were penalized. If you team is lower than expected be patient; if your team is higher than expected don’t become overly confident. 1/4 Oracle/ITA Women’s Rankings Released

The first official women’s team rankings were released late Wednesday afternoon with Florida coming in at No. 1 after finishing last year at No. 3. The Gators return five of six singles starters from a squad that won the SEC last year before stumbling in the NCAA Round of 16 to eventual champion Stanford. Speaking of Stanford they come in at No. 4 with four singles starters returning after the depatures of Carol Zhao (turned pro after junior year) and Krista Hardebeck (graduated). Women’s Individual Preseason Rankings With UTRs

Yesterday I gave you the men’s preseason rankings and today here are the women’s preseason individual rankings. These preseason rankings are simply last year’s final rankings with all the graduating seniors removed along with those that turned pro or are taking the fall off to play pro events. There are no freshmen included in these initial singles rankings although there is a list of the top 10 newcomers. Final Women’s Singles Rankings

The final singles rankings were released on Wednesday with NCAA singles champion Danielle Collins finishing the year at No. 1.Cal, Florida, and Ohio State each had five ranked singles players while NCAA Champion Stanford was one of six teams that had four ranked players. There were ten teams that had three ranked players including national runner-up Oklahoma State.There were more juniors ranked in the top 125 than any other class.
