Amanda Stone To Louisiana Tech, Other Coaching News, US Open Results

Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Tommy McClelland announced the hiring of Amanda Stone as the Lady Techsters new women’s head coach. Stone comes to Ruston via D2’s Northeastern State (Okla) where she won 81% of her matches as head coach over the past four seasons. Stone graduated from Northeastern State in 2007 and also spent two seasons as an assistant at the University of Rochester prior to becoming coach at Northeastern State. Bucknell Athletics Director John Hardt announced the hiring of Bruce Myers as the new men’s head coach of the Bison. Myers comes to Lewisburg after spending last season as the women’s head coach at Longwood before departing to become the men’s head coach at Delaware. Myers went 16-21 (.432) in one and half seasons at Longwood and 3-5 (.375) in his brief stay at Delaware. Myers also coached at North Carolina A&T in 2014 and prior to that was at Randolph-Macon for two seasons. He replaces Craig Schwartz who stepped down after four seasons to relocate to Boone, North Carolina, to be with his wife (Appalachian State head field hockey coach)...

There were two bigger stories on Saturday – the rain that wiped out several matches and Lamar upsetting No. 28 Rice 4-1. The bad weather out in California washed out the Oregon/Cal and San Diego/Santa Clara matches while UNC Wilmington and VCU were rained out in Richmond. Both of the matches in California are set to be played on Sunday while UNC Wilmington and VCU won’t make their match up.Earlier this season Lamar upset then No. 47 Iowa 4-2 but today’s win over Rice took it to a new level.
